In the heart of Entebbe lies the lush Botanical Gardens which were established in 1898 and are home to over 300 varieties of exotic plant species as well as an abundance of birdlife (over 115 species have been recorded here), black and white colobus and vervet monkeys. The rainforest zone in the gardens was used as a backdrop during the filming of the original "Tarzan" in 1940.
The gardens are ideal for gentle walks on solid pathways as you weave through lush lawns and flowers to the forest section and alongside Lake Victoria's shores.
We recommend hiring a local guide at the gates who are often University students studying environmental topics and they will escort you around the gardens pointing out sights of interest.
Entrance fee for the gardens is best made in local currency which can be drawn at the cashpoints in town or in the Airport.
